Rev. Darlene Strickland joined us here on Maui from Unity Church of Lawrence,
Kansas as the senior minister of one of the most dynamic, thriving new
thought churches in America. Her talent for combining intuitive spiritual
insight, humor and practical life experience inspires and cultivates positive
transformation and authentic being.

Her mantra, “Become what you are… and all that you are not will simply fall
away” Is evidence of her life...and reflective of her teaching.

Bob Lewis, who has attended Unity Church of Lawrence where Rev. Darlene is
completing her final weeks before arriving on Maui says, "What I like about
Darlene is that she gives really inspiring messages, and it comes from right from
her heart. I'm sure it's well prepared, but you get the feeling she's not working
from a script.

Rev. Darlene held an image of her congregation as a loving, inclusive
community.
"Anyone is welcome. And if it doesn't work out, that's OK, too. We're also
willing to help them find something else that will work," she says.

Present Position: Unity Church of Maui Senior Minister, 483 S. High St. Wailuku.
Education: Bachelor's in business administration, 1984, Columbia University,
Metairie, La.; master's of divinity, 2004, Unity Institute, Unity Village, MO.;
ordained Unity minister

Ministry: Experience as music director, hospital chaplain and outreach ministry
program director; initiated and directed a women's prison ministry program
and a youth-facilitated senior-care program

Professional: Served in senior management positions for BRIO Corp.,
and Ty Inc., manufacturers and distributors of children's toys; also worked
in management for MicroAge Computers, Greenville, N.C.
